Eat Well, Live long, and Travel Far
A good friend made the observation that the closing line for our show is all anyone could ask for in life. It’s true. The motto “Eat Well, Live Long, Travel Far” represents our deepest yearnings for a full life.
We all strive for a long life, but living long means more than reaching a certain age. It also represents continuingly experiencing the joys of life. The three pillars of our motto are interconnected in such a way that if you achieve one, you will likely accomplish the others. Staying active, traveling, and enjoying foods with medicinal value can help us achieve the good health and vitality associated with a long life.
The simplest starting point for living long is recognizing nature’s gifts of nutritious food. Remember that eating well is not just about tasting great food, but also about feeding the needs of your body and soul. Food is an experience that bestows a spiritual blessing on most of our senses. As such, we should savor every ingredient and practice the true art of eating well.
Multicultural food can be a window to the world. Whenever you take a bite of pasta, sample a rice dish, or taste a taquito — you are savoring centuries of culinary history that, in one way or another, helped to define a culture and its people. One of life’s greatest pleasures is traveling to experience other worlds. Whether a short trip or an adventure on the other side of the globe, travel can awaken your senses with new sights, smells, sounds, cultures, and foods, of course.
And remember, we are all contributors to this world of food – no matter how big or how small. We can’t help but be a part of this giant epicurean mesh that connects us all. With these philosophies in mind, I personally wish upon you the joys and blessings of eating well, living long, and traveling far for your most fulfilling life.
