Wilfred Aguila, MD

Host / Executive Producer

Surgeon, author and radio show host, Dr. Wilfred Aguila is a native of Florida, who has dedicated his career to helping people live healthier lives. Dr. Aguila has served as a health and wellness advocate since he graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1991. He has been in surgical practice since 1996, specializing in Bariatric surgery. He founded Tampa-based Surgical Bariatric Centers LLC and Weight Success Centers, LLC to help patients suffering with weight problems conquer their struggle and live healthy.

Struggling for almost a decade with his own weight problem, Dr. Aguila gained a personal understanding about the process of unhealthy eating. He remembers his battle with binge eating and the lessons he learned that allowed him to write his first book, Why I Don’t Lose Weight (publisher) and has since become a nationally known weight-loss expert.

Dr. Aguila has appeared on numerous TV talk shows, including NBC Daytime TV, FOX, WJXT-News 4 Jacksonville, as well as a recurring guest-spot on T51 Telemundo. He is also a regular contributor to national publications, including the Huffington Post, and has been featured in popular health magazines, such as Women’s Day, Shape, among other publications.

Dr. Aguila was the host of a syndicated talk-radio show broadcast nationally through Clear Channel. His renowned guests included: Dr. Oz, Leeza Gibbons, Dr. Daniel Amen, Linda Evans, Dr. Andrew Weil, Richard Simmons, Dr. Maya Angelou, and many more. The integrative approach to living healthy in his books was the inspiration for The Dr. A Show. In addition to The Dr. A. Show, he has sat in the guest seat for dozens of other radio shows. The list includes NPR, CBS Radio, America in the Morning, The Leslie Marshall Show, The Jim Bohannon Show, The Michael Eric Dyson Show, Project Health Radio News, KEX 1190, KRLD 1080 News Radio, KOA 850 News Radio, WCCO 830 News Radio, 700-WLW, CPB-Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Citadel Broadcasting Corporation, Westwood One and Entercom radio stations.

Beyond the mass media attention, Dr. Aguila has gained notoriety in the medical community. He is currently listed in the Guide to America’s Top Surgeons and Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors. He is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and he is Board Certified in General Surgery. Prior to obtaining his medical degree, Dr. Aguila received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of Miami in 1986. In Tampa, Dr. Aguila completed his surgical residency at the University of South Florida in 1996 and was Chief Resident in Surgery from 1995 to 1996.

Passionate about his local community, Dr. Aguila is active in Tampa events including serving as a member of the Ybor City Rotary Club and on the board as chair of the American Cancer Society of Greater Tampa. He has also served as Vice Chair of the Tampa Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Council. He is well represented in the medical community, the internet community, and the media for being a national expert on obesity and weight loss. When he’s not busy helping others to achieve weight-loss success, he enjoys traveling and spending quality time with his wife and three children.

Julie Rosendo

Emmy-winning Executive Producer Julie  Rosendo is a PBS veteran in both development and production, serving as a vice president with KLRN in San Antonio for 14 years prior to becoming an independent producer. Julie’s credits include producer of the Emmy winning PBS travel series, Joseph Rosendo’s Travelscope. Now in its tenth season with 123 episodes, Travelscope reaches 96% of the US market and 286 million viewers. Julie manages destination selection, content development, crew contracts and assignments, site logistics and underwriting support.

Leveraging her PBS background, Julie also directs distribution to the PBS system, coordinating station relations and broadcast distribution policy.

Thomas Patrick Geagan

Director of Photography

Tom began his career over twenty years ago studying as an actor and director at Drama Studio London. After moving to Los Angeles in 1992 Tom began studying Cinematography at UCLA. Over the past 20 years Tom has shot, directed and produced media for film, television, commercials and music video. In 2002 Tom teamed up with Joseph Rosendo and helped in the early development of the now Emmy Award winning travel series Joseph Rosendo’s Travelscope. Tom has been the Director of Photography on over 20 episodes of the award winning show and has also directed 15 Travelscope episodes. His credits also include Director and Director of Photography for the reality travel series Krusing America which follows the travels of the Krus family as they journey across Americas heartland in their RV while searching for the best place to call home. Tom continues to collaborate with Travelscope today, now in it’s ninth season, living the words of Mark Twain, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness.”

A. Tad Chamberlain

A. Tad Chamberlain is an award-winning independent filmmaker who has a strong emphasis in audio. He earned his MFA in Screenwriting from the American Film Institute in 2004 and has been working professionally as a freelance production sound recordist since 2006. He has worked on independent feature films, documentaries, network & cable television programming, commercials, web series, corporate videos, web-based promo pieces, shorts, student films, even a short musical, as well as doing some work in radio. Tad has taught courses in documentary film at Mount St. Mary’s College and the New York Film Academy, in addition to teaching workshops in production sound at NYFA.

Corporate/network clients have included ABC, FOX, PBS, A&E, TLC, Apple, Nike, Mercedes-Benz, Scion, Avid, Adobe, and HDNet.

Jason Grigg

Sound Editor

Jason’s music background led him to study sound engineering at SAE Institute in Los Angeles in 2006/07. Post-production for TV and film quickly piqued his interest. Since graduating he’s worked as a full-time voice recordist, as well as sound editor and mixer on short film and TV projects in the LA area. “I hope to further hone my editing and mixing skills working with the wonderful people at Travelscope, bringing rich cultural experiences to life through sound and I look forward to working on Eat Heal Travel.”

Jason’s work with Travelscope has been recognized with three Emmy nominations and one Emmy win.

Teresa Conboy

Associate Producer / Publicist

Teresa Conboy applies her combined writing, public relations, marketing skills and extensive understanding of broadcast media to her Marketing efforts for Joseph Rosendo’s Travelscope and Epic Adventures.  She also had her own “epic adventure” living overseas on the island of American Samoa for two years in the ‘60s when her father accepted a job with the Samoan school system.  “It was very forward thinking of my teacher father to make such a move in 1966, and it really helped shape my views early on, living in another culture.”

Teresa has over 20 years experience in the public relations field having worked with an array of diverse clients in music and the arts.

She successfully secured product endorsements for musicians from guitar, amp, and drum manufacturers, in addition to product donations and/or sponsorships for events from such companies as Sony Music, Smithsonian/Folkways, Hodder & Stoughton Publishers U.K., Skirball Cultural Center, Hohner Harmonicas, Penguin/Viking, Converse and Los Angeles area radio stations.  Concurrently, she also worked as a freelance writer contributing articles to industry trade publications and doing script/story analysis in addition to transcribing numerous media footage for TV and film production companies.

Teresa was also Associate Producer and co-host of Pacifica Radio’s Los Angeles station, KPFK 90.7 FM’s blues music show for four years.  After two decades, she left her freelance PR business to concentrate on writing short stories and have a wider playing field in which to apply her accumulated skills and understanding of various facets of media, literature and music.

Composer/lyricist Ken Mazur has performed on over fifty albums as a session guitarist with artists such as Robert Palmer, Tina Tuner, INXS, Mink Deville, Marvin Gaye, Kid Creole, The O Jays,  Herbie Mann, Ben E King, The Paul Winter Consort, and Candi StatonHe toured with Robert Palmer and Mink Deville and appeared on Broadway with Twyla Tharp as well as the musical’ Gotta Go Disco’Ken’s jingle writing credits include Chevy Truck, McDonalds, AT&T, Nintendo, Honda and Russel AthleticsWriting from his studio in Topanga California, Ken scored the Discovery Channel Program, ‘Biker Build Off’ from 2004 to 2007. His TV work includes the feature length documentaries ‘Studio 54’ and ‘Woodstock’ for Behind the Music,VH1, One Day At A Time Reunion, CBS, the comedy series ‘Manhattan AZ’ for USA Network,  the series ‘Comics on Delivery” for Comedy Central, the series Lost and Found for FX and the theme song for NBC’s tv special, ‘Dinosaurs Larger than Life.’ His movie credits include “the Uninvited,” “The Rose Technique”, starring Jo Beth Williams, ‘Lucky’ and ‘Pros and Cons’. Among his other credits are the documentary ‘Voices from the Attic’, documentary winner of the NY film Festival, and the short film, ‘Cat and Mousse’, nominated for best prize at Cannes. Ken has won two Telly Awards for his work in commercial video. In 2005 Ken wrote the music and lyrics for a children’s musical, “Precious Piglet and Her Pals”, which won the LA 2005 ADA Award for Best Music, Lyrics and Book for an original children’s musical.  Ken has scored more than 35 Travelscope episodes and looks forward to bringing his talents to Eat Heal Travel.
